Understanding the difference between a passport and a drivers license and a bus pass and a gift card and a professional title can be challenging for some individuals with disabilities. Knowing that age plays a role in providing or allowing access is something that each birthday added on can help to understand how long it takes to get to an age where you can ride a certain ride at a theme park or you will be allowed to travel somewhere without / without support for the first time. Identity documents are earnt. They arent given out freely. This is particularly important when it comes to understanding the different roles of carers and who can touch who and when and how. A drivers license can help individuals understand that only if you have one can you drive the car. A passport is not a drivers license that allows you to fly an airplane. It allows you to use an Atlas or Map to travel to a different country. But that requires knowledge of maps and hours to get somewhere. Carers are allowed to do different tasks. Not all carers wear badges or job titles on their clothing or badges. It is helpful to talk about who does what and why they are allowed legally to do certain types of tasks. A train driver can show you how the train is driven but that doesnt mean that you will be allowed to be a train driver one day. There is a move to have more disablity inclusion within public transport and private transport. Understanding the safety and the role of who has been given a license / legal permission to do something is important. Behaviour management is essential for not only short term safety but long term vocational support.
